What is it about barbequeing that just makes everything taste better? I mean I love food in general but really steak + bbq = better, corn on the cob + bbq = better, potatoes + bbq = better. Really, anything barbequed is just BETTER!!
And just so you know barbeque involves anything done on an open fire as well, like bushpies. Mmm, bushpies, and ...smores!!
Maybe it's just the whole mentality of barbequeing that I enjoy the most. The laid back, take it easy and eat until you're stuffed mentality. Then sit around. There isn't that much for clean up either, usually. Maybe that's why I really enjoy it...lol.
Whatever it is, I have been enjoying my summer and my barbeques.
Here's to SUMMER and BARBEQUES!!

A Lot On My Mind
There has been a lot on my mind lately. Some of it good, some of it not so good and all of it driving me crazy at times!! So many things just seem so up in the air right now. I just don't know.
It's funny how things change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse and sometimes the change is quite indifferent. It's all still change, though and it makes one think.
I am looking forward to a good summer. I hope for nice weather. That always makes the summer more enjoyable. I guess we'll see.
I can't believe it's almost July already. Don't really know where the time has gone. I know I've been busy but I also know I have spent a lot of time longing for things to be different. That isn't a bad thing, in and of itself, I don't think. Goals and dreams are what drive us. Some have changed for me lately, for no apparent reason. It has left me to thinking that maybe I've done it all wrong, maybe I've got it all wrong and yet I have no regrets for what I have done. I know, I'm rambling, not making much sense... It's not that I'm unhappy, I just think I could be happier. I have many blessings, of which I am very grateful for but at the same time I feel there is so much more.
Yep, like I said, so much on my crazy mind!!

17 and Counting
I guess it's time to continue with the 100 things about me...
17) I like playing games. Games are fun. I do try and avoid strategy games though, cause I'm not very good at them but I will play them.
18) I am not a competitive person. I play for fun. Not to say I don't try to win, cause winning is fun but if I loose...o well!!
19) I'm not good with papers, bills, etc. They just kind of stack up and I don't know what to do with them. Kind of annoying. I guess I could file them instead of piling them...
20) I blame my mom for my filing skills. I take after her in that area. She taught me well...LOL
21) I love the ocean, lakes, big bodies of water. They're just so amazing, so serene. I could sit or walk by one for hours. I could also swim or float for hours too.
22) Fires are something else I love. I am mesmerized by them . I could sit by one of these for hours as well. They get me to thinking about my life and usually help me to relax and feel like I have no cares in the world.
23) I love camping. I haven't been able to do much of it these past few summers and I sure do miss it. Again, I'm sure it's the combination of lakes and fires and being outside that makes me love it so much. I hope to be able to do more of it in the future. I guess we'll see.
24) I had a moment this week where I realized that what I wanted is maybe no longer what I want. Not that I don't want it at all but it's not as important to me as it use to be. The thing is, what I do want may not be possible...Why is life so complicated sometimes?
25) I sometimes think I am a bad friend. Not that I'm bad/evil but that I could be a better friend to my friends. I have made a point of working on that. It's coming.
26) I sometimes hibernate. I go through periods where I really just want to be alone. I am not sad or depressed but I just need some alone time. There are a select few who I have contact with during these times. They usually only last a day or two and the funny thing is by the end of the second day I am usually stir crazy and needing to get out of my house and have contact with anything that is breathing. During these periods I usually over think anything and everything, which is another reason I need to get out of the house. I make my friends laugh. (well, shake their heads at least)..the select few who are privileged enough to hear my conclusions.
27) I should be in Guatemala right now. Well, I think I should always be in Guatemala but specifically this week. I was there this time a year ago. They will now be opening the surgical clinic for a week in June as well. This is the first year for that. I am super excited about it. One of the team leaders sent an email asking me to come for it as they are in dire need of nurses who have experience there. It caused me great sadness to have to tell her no. I tried my hardest to make it work. I remember someone once saying that if you are asked to serve, you should at least consider it. Given the present situation I am in at work I didn't think it would look good if I asked for time off to go "work" in Guatemala. (I know it's totally different work but not everyone sees it as such).
Well, I should go, and stop procrastinating. The quote I leave you with is Where ever you go, go with all your heart!!

Yay, I have an appendix!!
So, I was sitting on the toilet the other day and thinking about life, a few patients I had, etc and thought ...huh, I still have my appendix. For most people this may not be that exciting but to me it was. You don't really NEED your appendix so if it is giving you trouble they take it out. Most of my organs don't work well, they give me a lot of grief, but I need them. My thought was...well, if I still have my appendix it must be working fine!! Woo Hoo!! I have an organ that works!! I have my appendix!!
(I know, how sad is that. As I said in a previous blog...it's all about the small things!!)

DANCE
This blog is long overdue. It has been forever, it seems. I have started writing a new one several times but either I don't finish it or if I do I don't post it. I don't really like talking about myself so that makes it difficult. O well.Another reason this post is long overdue is because I really need to thank family and friends for everything you have done for me over the past weeks. Your prayers, well wishes and acts of kindness have not gone unnoticed. I am not going to start listing names because I am sure to forget someone but you know who you are. I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate what they have done. It has been said that in the hard times you learn who your real friends are. Lets just say that I have way more friends than I ever thought I had. It was amazing and encouraging to see who came out of the woodwork.
I'm not sure what the future holds. I am hoping that things will return to close to normal for me. No one is really sure at what is the cause of all this trouble at the moment. My only prayer is that we can get the pain controlled, that I can once again walk somewhat normally and that, in the least, this process is a slow degenerative process if it can't be stopped. God knows and that is all that really matters. I trust He knows what He is doing with my life. He has got me this far.Life has a way of throwing us curve balls. Some of us more than others. We just have to learn how to swing with them, I guess. It appears that everytime I make plans to fly somewhere I end up getting sick...and not just stuffy head, fever sick but more like in hospital sick (some would say close to death sick but I wouldn't go that far). This has lead me to thinking. No more planning to fly. I will continue to fly, just not PLAN to fly. I will wake up in the morning and if I'm feeling fine and want to go somewhere...I will fly away!! I won't have time to get sick...haha. This may be more expensive but hey, whatever. So, if you ever are trying to reach me and can't, consider this...I may be in some far off place!!
Everyone knows I like quotes. I bought a plaque at Christmas time. It says...Move to life's music it's a beautiful dance. A friend of mine says he disagrees, that that isn't always true. I had to disagree with him. The way I look at it is this...sometimes the music really sucks BUT we have to continue to dance, to move to the music and, in the end, when it's all said and done, the dance we did will be amazing. There will be times when the dance will not be the best it could be, where the steps were difficult and the music just really wasn't all that helpful but, continue to dance, my friends. It will be beautiful!!

100 Things About ME
So, I decided to do the 100 things about me, mainly cause I'm bored. I don't really know why I'm doing it. I don't think very many people read this thing but o well, it will help pass my time. Don't worry, I won't write 100 things all tonight. That might put you to sleep!!
1) My real name is Jacklyn Price. No, I don't have a middle name. Some friends of mine decided I needed one so I became Jackie Gorge. It has kinda stuck ever since.
2) Other names I get called are: Jackie, Jack, Jax, Jackster.
3) I really hate the side effects of oral antibiotics. They kill my gut, keep me running and make me not want to eat anything. I don't usually stray to far from the toilet during this time.
4) I often eat and make my meals in "rounds". I'll make my meat and eat it, then my vegetables then my starch...not necessarily in that order, unless I make a stir fry or something similar, then I eat it at the same time. I think it may come from being indecisive and not knowing what I really want to eat but I know I need to eat something from every food group.
5) I am super excited about my trip to Ottawa in March. I will be going out there for a week to visit Joy and Andy...and sight see. I am also taking a trip with another friend in fall sometime. I am also super excited about that too!!
6) I am a procrastinator at heart. I wish I wasn't, but I am.
7) I really don't like doing laundry. I don't mind putting them in the washer and into the dryer but I REALLY dislike folding them so often they sit in the basket until I need them and sometimes I have to throw them in the dryer again because they are so wrinkled.
8) I love to travel and hope to be able to do more of that in the future. Two places at the top of my list are Ireland and anywhere in Africa!!
9) I love my bedroom furniture and my entertainment center. It makes me smile. I sometimes feel guilty (ever so briefly) for feeling that way but I know that if I had to part with it I could.
10) I just finished reading a book. Yep, a whole book. I don't think I've done that since university. University kind of burnt me out, especially from reading.
11) I think God has a sense of humour. He must laugh at His children often and sometimes I get a feeling He is thumbing His nose at me in a very kind and loving way...as only good friends can.
12) Did I mention I hate antibiotics...lol!!
13) I really miss Guatemala. My heart longs to be there. I am being patient, or so I think I am. I can't really explain it and I don't expect anyone to understand. I don't really understand it so how would anyone else.
14) People laugh at me because I talk about my body as its own entity. I believe it is. It doesn't listen to me and does weird unexplainable things to me. Maybe if I was "one with my body" it would treat me better. Probably not...LOL.
15) I love journals, stationary and the such. I can look at it for hours and not buy anything. If I do buy something I usually give it away. If I keep it for myself I don't usually end up using it 'cause it's too pretty...lol. It makes good gifts, though, so, whatever. It's all good.
16) I also love quotes, inspirational, humourous or otherwise. So, I will leave you with this thought: The greatest thing is to be willing to give up who we are in order to become all that we can become!!
